Yesterday we were in an exhibition on the grave of Tut-Ench-Amun. No, not the one that was some years ago showed the way and original parts of the excavation, but another showing only replicas. But they can also arrange it so, how did they found the grave, and have some things more than once, so you can watch it after again very carefully and closely. One must simply forget that they are not the originals, or better yet, imagine, that she did have. That makes it even more impressive, the show replicas for the most part, the restored versions, that is not what the originals look like today, but as they looked three thousand years ago.
The exhibition is divided into several parts. The first gives a general overview of ancient Egypt, including the Rosetta Stone, an overview of Howard Carter's excavations and the spatial location of the tomb in the ground. Then there are two films, one on Tut-Ench-Amun, and a report on the excavations, and then three rooms in which the finds same structure, as Carter had found it. Stacked, nested and mixed up. Only the burial chamber itself is already exempt from the shrines and the average gold sarcophagus suspended from a pulley system - a scene from the middle of the work also.
is then still an area in which each part is again established, and finally a small exhibition of Carter's life. I think at least, because we have not considered.
The whole is viewed with an audio guide. The voice of Captain Picard, an Egyptologist and a Carter-voice with a heavy English accent report on excavations, Egypt and finds. Why is this Carter Emphasis must have, I could not clear it makes it tough to listen to him and what I will probably remember for years, his pronunciation of "Gold" and "three thousand" are. I mean, Carter is already pretty long dead, and no one will believe that he has eingesprochen this band itself, whether accented or not. He probably spoke no German (I'm too lazy to look up the;)). A nice voice with no accent would have done, maybe even much better.
The audio guide was then promptly on the half of the distance from each of us one by one, because the battery was empty. But fortunately they also turn to all boards, where can read the important information. Only in the movies and the chambers really need it, and he was still running. Nacher but it was a bit repetitive, was not so bad. Generally
show such a popular science exhibition also more likely to know how many times already, without being aware of it. Okay, now I can not recite the order of the Pharaohs heart, but he was Akhenaten and what was so special about him, or what is the Rosetta Stone ...
On the whole I found the exhibition very well done. The idea of the chambers is nice, but especially the last part I really liked it. The replicas look great, and because they are just replicas, is what you're super-tight and can look at all the details exactly. Impressive to see the original safe from either, and probably because you have to keep more distance. Everything was arranged and attractively decorated and well understand, and it was allowed to take photos.
why can I present to you my favorite piece exhibition with images. Here it is:
Is this a grave good Tut-Ench-Amun, a god shrine. As you can see, he is made out of gold and not particularly great. Inside the shrine, a labeled stele stands behind a podium. The platform is again empty except for two human footprints, which suggest that certainly it is a statue that pulls the trigger through its weight in just the podium. It is an invisible statue. What is surprising, moreover, no further, for it is the shrine of an invisible God. * G *
But the rest of the show was also very impressive. Been inconceivable that people bring about such purely artisanal, really with the hand and no machinery. Alone all these coins on the great shrines around the coffin ... Madness.
